Privacy Statment

 

At Pestle & Pins, your privacy is important to us. We strive to abide by the highest standards of privacy protection set out by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA) and by the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This means that all information collected about you by Pestle & Pins is completely confidential. In accordance with CTCMA bylaws, all records will be maintained for ten years after the last interaction with you or ten years after your nineteenth birthday, whichever should occur later.

Physical copies of any information will be kept in a locked, secure place that only your practitioner has access too. Likewise, any electronic copies will be kept in a secure, password protected file that only your practitioner has access too.

All information collected about you remains your property. As such, at any point you can request access to your files to verify accuracy, and make corrections as needed. While the original copy of the information remains the property of Pestle & Pins, you may requests a copy. If you would like a physical copy of your records there may be a fee, as set out in the CTCMA bylaws, depending on the size of the job. Pestle & Pins may deny you access to your file if it is believed granting access would  would result in a risk of serious harm to your treatment or recovery, or a risk to the health and safety of another person.

The regulated healthcare colleges throughout British Columbia promote a system of inter-professional collaboration between a patient's various practitioners. If you would like Pestle & Pins to work with your other practitioners in providing your healthcare please let us know to what extent you would like us share and receive your information from your other practitioners. At any time you should want to cease inter-professional collaboration or change the amount of information being exchanged this process is 100% in your control.

In accordance with PIPA, Pestle & Pins may disclose necessary information if it is believed there is reasonable grounds that the disclosure is necessary to prevent or reduce serious bodily harm to yourself of another person.
