Eight Brocades Qi Gong - Ba Duan Jin

Ba Duan Jin, or the Eight Brocades Qi Gong, is a simple series of exercises for developing strength, flexibility, balances, and coordination. If you are in generally good health it should be performed vigorously to maintain health and improve well being. If being used for

rehabilitation, the series should be performed slowly, gently, and methodically.
Key points to remember while going through the series are the head is kept upright, the tailbone slightly rotated underneath you, and the movements should not be force through the muscles. The Ba Duan Jin focuses on developing tendon strength, so you should not have tight muscles while going through the series. Breathing should remain natural throughout the practice with a relaxed chest - try to coordinate the breath with inhaling on expansive movements and exhaling on closing movements. Ba Duan Jin can be used as an exercise on its own or as a warm up to other activity such as Tai Chi.

Chen Style Tai Chi 8 Movements

The 8 movements of the Chen style tai chi are the basic movements which make up the more complex 24 and 89 movement forms. Tai Chi provides a low impact exercise which emphasizes control and balance.

Master Zheng offers free Chen style Tai Chi classes in Duncan Monday - Friday 9AM-10AM, weather permitting as the classes are outside in the large empty parking lot just off River Rd where Trunk Rd turns into Government St.

Master Zheng has generously written out a descriptions of each movement in the sequence which you can download through the PDF download button to help you as you follow along.
